Ubuntu wifi connection?

Not all that long ago I installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop, and it's been a wonderful experience other than the fact that I can't get any internet. My laptop is an HP nc8000 with an Avaya internet card. I've got wireless enabled and I can see the network list, but when I try to connect to them (even though I'm positive of the password and three feet away from the router) it just keeps loading until it asks for the password again.
