How do I keep my dog from being dehydrated?

My 6-month-old Boston terrier puppy is sick (stomach flu), and the vet said to keep him hydrated. Well, Louie isn't drinking and it is worrying me. So does anyone out there have any tips on how to make him drink water? Thanks.
